Stroke Facts: When you need a challenge to get you moving.
Let’s say you’re bored out of your skull with the side-effects of your stroke and you just need a challenge. Why not work on your speech.
It’s been seven years since my last series of strokes and I still have a hard time with my s’s when I’m tired. So how about practising a sentence I play with that was created by some evil sadistic person. See how fast you can say it without slurring.
If you do slur, it’s no big deal. Just enjoy the fun and laugh at how you sound. You might even want to record yourself saying it, that way you can hear where you need to improve.
So, here we go: “A sick sparrow sang six sad spring songs sitting sighing under a simmering sun.”
Just for the fun of it - get someone who supposedly speaks normal and see how well they do and how fast they can say it without slurring.
When you see they can’t do it either - it will make you feel much better!
Never surrender! Never give up!
